Trinidad and Tobago Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update #501

Port-of-Spain, October 5, 2020: As part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Health continues to provide up-to-date information on the country’s status. The population is reminded to rely on information from official sources only, such as the Ministry of Health.

As of the afternoon of Monday 5th October, 2020 the Ministry reports the following:

Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19 32,474 
Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago                   4,767
Total number of active cases1,801
Number of deaths82
Number of persons discharged from public health facilities1,097
 Number of recovered community cases 1,787

The Ministry of Health provides the following update:

·         1 additional person has tested positive for COVID-19

·         The Ministry of Health regrets to inform the public that there has been 1 additional COVID-19 related death. The person was a middle-aged male with pre-existing medical conditions. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 82.
